Kansas Minority Enterprise Development Awards Luncheon a Huge Success

TOPEKA – The room was filled with lively conversation, jovial laughter, and wonderful jazz music last Thursday at the Minority Enterprise Development Luncheon. The event took place at the Capital Plaza Hotel.

Several different area business owners and entrepreneurs gathered to be celebrated and awarded by the Kansas Department of Commerce Office of Minority and Women Business Development. Brooke Lennington, evening Anchor for KSNT-TV, was the emcee for the event.

Companies and entrepreneurs joined together and listened to the names of businesses and influential people announced and awarded over lunch. These included innovators and big names in construction, manufacturing, professional services, retail, service industry, and supply/distribution.

Music was provided by the Washburn Rural High School Jazz Band.

Awards were handed out to winners by Kansas Lieutenant Governor Tracey Mann, who said that he was very pleased to be able to participate.

“It was a tremendous turnout,” Mann said. “It was just fun to get to recognize these people and businesses that are doing great things for Kansas.”
